tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2920090886436364031.post4320105014049490582..comments2023-04-30T04:18:48.113-04:00Comments on Caaamper's Thoughts: Best Friends Forever...Really?Mike DeCamphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08130504795182814264noreply@blogger.comBlogger2125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2920090886436364031.post-25379352277302642912010-08-21T21:17:03.353-04:002010-08-21T21:17:03.353-04:00Hey Mike --- I often wonder about friendships myse...Hey Mike --- I often wonder about friendships myself --- I sometimes get emotional and melancholy about them as well --- My thoughts can go wild as I think to myself --- Why doesn’t so and so call me, send me and email or even reply to something I place on Face Book --- There have been times when I was deeply hurt and it seemed I had no friends --- There are people I thought were my friends and when I moved from PA to WV to MA to IN to PA I no longer heard from them --- There are people with whom my friendship is a one-way street --- I could go on and mention many other things about friends and how I feel I’ve gotten the short end of the stick many times but I think you know what I mean --- These thoughts used to plague me and still do sometimes but when I step back and think logically I understand that this life is physical and physical obstacles come between regular maintenance of friendships --- I understand logically that some people have a gift of building relationships better than others --- Some can build just a few good friendships and others can build more than a few --- I have also come to understand that I might have thought someone was a close friend of mine but in reality that was more me thinking or hoping that that was mutual --- I also understand that some people makeup is such that they have to have regular chats in order to maintain a relationship --- I also understand that some friendships will pleasantly surprise me even though their hasn’t been any communication for years. I think of an old friend we both know, Rich Farkas, who I haven’t talked to but maybe once or twice in 21 years. When he was near my house a year ago, called me and said he was in the area --- We got together and it seemed like we hadn’t missed a beat --- It seemed like we were still great friends in spite of time, distance, etc. With all that said I think we should all make more of an effort to maintain our friendships. <br /><br />BTW – I still consider you a great friend even though we only have seen each other a few times over the years and then only for a few minutes at a seminar or more recently in a comment on FB --- You are my friend always.
